Google’s self-driving car complete more than 300,000 accident-free miles

The Internet giant revealed that its self-driving cars have now logged more than 300,000 miles across a wide range of traffic conditions, and no vehicle has suffered from an accident while under computer control. The driverless program combines the company’s Street View technology with artificial intelligence software that fully controls the vehicle with the help of numerous cameras and sensors. The program has come a long way and was recently granted a license from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles to perform tests on public streets. Google notes that while “there’s still a long road ahead,” it will soon allow some of its team members to drive the cars solo, rather than in the traditional pairs, for their daily commutes. The Mountain View-based company also announced the newest additional to its autonomous fleet, a Lexus RX450h hybrid.

American Stanley Allen Meyer claimed that automobile could run on water

American Stanley Allen Meyer claimed that automobile could run on water instead of gasoline. The fuel cell splits water into its components hydrogen and oxygen, hydrogen was then burns to generates energy.According to Meyer, device required less energy to perform electrolysis,if the device worked as specified,it would violet the both first second law  of thermodynamics. In 1996, Meyer was sued by two investors to whom he had sold dealerships, offering the right to do business in Water Fuel Cell technology. His car was due to be examined by the expert witness Michael Laughton, Professor of Electrical Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. However, Meyer made what Professor Laughton considered a "lame excuse" on the days of examination and did not allow the test to proceed. According to Meyer the technology was patent pending and under investigation by the patent office, the Department of Energy and the military. His "water fuel cell" was later examined by three expert witnesses in court who found that there "was nothing revolutionary about the cell at all and that it was simply using conventional electrolysis.Stanley Meyer died suddenly on March 21, 1998 after dining at a restaurant. An autopsy report by the Franklin County, Ohio coroner concluded that Meyer had died of a cerebral aneurysm. Conspiracy theorists insist that he was poisoned to suppress the technology, and that oil companies and the United States government were involved in his death

Agha Waqar receiving threats after his invention

Engineer, Agha Waqar while talking to media said, that after his great achievement of inventing water-kit to run vehicles, receiving threats from Mafia. No step has yet been taken by the government of Pakistan regarding security arrangements. He also said that he has been awarded with great pride and respect by British including Singapore but it is sad that there was no response given to him by the government of Pakistan.during a demonstration on live TV show, Agha Waqar Ahmed drove his car using water as a fuel.  Agha Waqar Ahmed is the first who took initiative for introducing this technology in Pakistan but some TV channels are claiming that something the world already saw decades ago has been invented by Pakistan in 2012.
Minister for religious Affair Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, who heads the cabinet committee, said the Ministry of Science and Technology will fully support the Sukkur-based engineer. “The ministry and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) will study the feasibility of the project as soon as possible”. He added.
The Minister said they would provide complete security to Engineer, Agha Waqar Ahmed, adding that the formula will also be kept in secret.

Hydrogen Energy

Hydrogen is the simplest element. An atom of hydrogen consists of only one proton and one electron. It's also the most plentiful element in the universe. Despite its simplicity and abundance, hydrogen doesn't occur naturally as a gas on the Earth - it's always combined with other elements. Water, for example, is a combination of hydrogen and oxygen (H2O).
Hydrogen is also found in many organic compounds, notably the hydrocarbons that make up many of our fuels, such as gasoline, natural gas, methanol, and propane. Hydrogen can be separated from hydrocarbons through the application of heat - a process known as reforming. Currently, most hydrogen is made this way from natural gas. An electrical current can also be used to separate water into its components of oxygen and hydrogen. This process is known aselectrolysis. Some algae and bacteria, using sunlight as their energy source, even give off hydrogen under certain conditions.

Hydrogen is high in energy, yet an engine that burns pure hydrogen produces almost no pollution. NASA has used liquid hydrogen since the 1970s to propel the space shuttle and other rockets into orbit. Hydrogen fuel cells power the shuttle's electrical systems, producing a clean byproduct - pure water, which the crew drinks.
A fuel cell combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity, heat, and water. Fuel cells are often compared to batteries. Both convert the energy produced by a chemical reaction into usable electric power. However, the fuel cell will produce electricity as long as fuel (hydrogen) is supplied, never losing its charge.
Fuel cells are a promising technology for use as a source of heat and electricity for buildings, and as an electrical power source for electric motors propelling vehicles. Fuel cells operate best on pure hydrogen. But fuels like natural gas, methanol, or even gasoline can be reformed to produce the hydrogen required for fuel cells. Some fuel cells even can be fueled directly with methanol, without using a reformer.
In the future, hydrogen could also join electricity as an important energy carrier. An energy carrier moves and delivers energy in a usable form to consumers. Renewable energy sources, like the sun and wind, can't produce energy all the time. But they could, for example, produce electric energy and hydrogen, which can be stored until it's needed. Hydrogen can also be transported (like electricity) to locations where it is needed.

Pak envoy invites engineer Waqar to Abu Dhabi for demo Of ‘Water Fuel Kit Project’

ABU DHABI: Augmenting global efforts to push for renewable energy sources, Pakistan’s ambassador to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan and Director General of International Renewable Energy (IRENA) have agreed to hold demo of the water-kit invented by Pakistani engineer that makes it possible for cars to run on water.
Hailing from Southern Sindh province of Pakistan, Engineer Waqar Ahmad drove his car last Thursday using water as fuel during a demonstration for parliamentarians, scientists and students in Islamabad and left the onlookers astounded. Media reports have explained that the water fuelling system is a technology in which ‘hydrogen bonding’ with distilled water produces hydrogen gas to run the car.
Taking stock of this unique invention with potential to forever change the dynamics of global energy consumption, Pakistan’s envoy exchanged notes with IRENA Director General Adnan Z. Amin and agreed joining hands in holding a demo to have a closer look at the working of the ‘Water Fuel Kit Project’.
Ambassador Khan has also asked Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology to send official endorsement in support of the invention to assist in the efforts to globally market this indigenously developed and eco-friendly water-fuel kit.
He applauded IRENA Director General for agreeing to hold the demo to further certify the authenticity of the invention, a move that will be of sure help in packaging the technology for broader consumer base through collaborative business ventures.
Envoy Khan also spoke to Engineer Waqar over telephone and lauded his ingenuity that led to inventing environmentally sustainable water-kit technology that powers automobiles. He also invited the inventor to Abu Dhabi on a sponsored visit in recognition of his ground breaking discovery.

Water Power Car – A Well Demonstrated Proof

The reason why I write this article today is not because I have seen a video in which an ignorant and under-qualified person apparently dominated one of our most celebrated scholars in a highly popular talk show. I am not even amazed that our supposed to be graduate PARLIAMENTARIANS fell for one of the most ridiculous hoaxes of human history. It’s no wondering that engineer Waqar Ahmad has gained the status of a national hero overnight for a nation which so desperately hopes for an end to a brutal energy crisis.
All of this was not much of a surprise considering the current state of our media and politicians. What really worried me was a Facebook poll (of all the things, for God’s sake!). A friend sent me a link to a question which asked if I thought engineer (my sincerest apologies to real engineers for abusing this title again and again, but apparently this is the title he has presumed) Waqar Ahmad was talking any sense?
Mind you, I am a biology person through and through and a proud member of back-benchers association, but even my first response was, “Who on earth put a yes option in there!”. Illogical as it may sound, that was my reaction… But wait, it keeps on getting better: on insistence of this friend, I opened the link and – guess what! Until a few hours ago, at least 24 people had answered yes! Intrigued by the ridiculous situation, I thought “what the hell, let’s take a look at the fools who said yes” (no disrespect if anyone of you readers voted yes, but that’s exactly what I thought).
I opened the list and that’s when all my sense of black humor suddenly departed and was replaced by shame, at least for a moment. Some of these people who said yes were actually NUSTians, or so there profiles said. I suddenly felt as if the last frontier of my nation’s defense against ignorance had been breached; almost everywhere else is fine, but universities! And one of the most prestigious ones in Pakistan! Some of them were even prospective engineers, but still I thought “oh c’mon, that must be sarcasm!” but then I asked around a bit and I actually found people within this prestigious institute who thought it was possible that Engineer (sorry again) Waqar Ahmad was correct.
That was more than enough interest building for me and I decided to give the matter a closer look. I started by reading an article of renowned scholar Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy who had so excellently identified the desperation of Pakistani nation as the root cause of otherwise unprecedented wide spread public appraisal. I then watched a popular talk show in which both Dr Atta ur Rahman (An eminent scientist) and the eng… sorry, the “inventor” were invited and an argument followed in which Dr Atta insisted that his invention violated laws of thermodynamics while the inventor kept on ridiculously evading the objections raised by him. Nevertheless, eminent scientists like Dr Samar Mubarakmand and Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan seemed to believe that the idea is feasible and that serious thought and attention should be given to this water-kit.
So, let’s get myth and bias out of the way and analyze this “water-kit” on purely scientific grounds. First thing’s first, let’s take a look at what he is claiming: this person claims to have invented an apparatus which, when installed in an automobile equipped with internal combustion engine, provides hydrogen to run the engine. To be clear, let us keep in mind that the title used for this car throughout is “car which runs on water”, also the individual has never mentioned that an automobile equipped with his invention will require any other source of energy other than water.
Now let us take a look at the mechanism step by step and concurrently note the accompanying energy changes.
Electrolysis breaks the water molecule and supplies oxyhydrogen (a combustible gaseous mixture containing two moles of hydrogen and one mole of oxygen per mole of water broken). So, here energy is supplied to the system in form of electrical energy which is stored in reaction products as chemical potential energy. Source is battery pack and sink is oxyhydrogen.
This oxyhydrogen is fed to engine via carburetor. The output is used for driving the car as well as running the electric generator to recharge the battery pack. Energy is supplied in the form of thermal energy and is then channelized into mechanical energy – to be split between kinetic energy (running the car) and electrical energy (electric generator of car). Source is chemical potential energy while sink is electrical energy and kinetic energy.
This electrical energy is then used for electrolysis and the cycle starts again. Energy is again converted from electrical energy to chemical potential energy.
A closer look reveals that there is a cycle in which oxyhydrogen is followed by water and vice versa. Let us now examine the energetics of both reactions; combustion of oxyhydrogen and electrolysis of water.
Combustion of diatomic H2 and O2 to form water as steam (releases energy):
H2(g) + ½O2(g) → H2O(g) ΔH° = -241.826 kJ1
Electrolysis of water releases H2 and O2 (consumes energy):
2H2O + energy → 2H2 + O2 ΔH° = 237.13 kJ2
So far so good. Here is the glitch, my dear readers: even the most cutting edge technology doesn’t provide more than 80-82% efficiency when it comes to electrolysis of water. Efficiency of 94% is predicted but hasn’t yet being achieved3. While the efficiency of commercially available alkaline electrolyzers ranges typically between 48 – 63% 4. And the maximum efficiency achieved by any internal combustion engine is less than 40%, usually it’s around 20-35% 5.
Now I suppose the math should be simple, we know that the energy released by production of water is roughly equivalent to the energy needed to break it down. And we know that there are plenty of energy losses throughout the processes and yet this individual claims that this car not only replenishes its own fuel supply but still somehow has enough spare energy to run the car!
Still don’t get the point? Here is the simplified version of law of conservation of energy which is an essential part of first law of thermodynamics:
Energy can be neither created nor destroyed. However, energy can change forms, and energy can flow from one place to another. The total energy of an isolated system remains the same.
Do the math people, identify a loophole in my logic or embrace the truth and spread the word. This pathetic hoax is making our nation look like idiots throughout the world.
This scandal really is a proof of concept that how easily and thoroughly a desperate nation can be fooled!

Pakistani Engineer makes car that runs solely on water

A Pakistani engineer has claimed to build a water-kit to run vehicles on water, leaving the world astounded and shocked.
During a demonstration in a live TV show, Engineer Agha Waqar Ahmed drove his car using water as fuel. The engineer was of the opinion that vehicles could be driven by a system fuelled by distilled water instead of petroleum products.
A sub-committee of the cabinet while praising the Water Fuel Kit Project assured the engineer of full support in launching of his innovation.
Waqar Ahmed while explaining his project said the water fuelling system was a simple technology in which ‘hydrogen bonding’ with distilled water produces hydrogen gas to run a car engine.
He claimed that a vehicle will consume one-litre water for 40 kilometers while a one-KV generator could produce electricity for two hours by one-litre water.
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, who heads the cabinet committee, said the Ministry of Science and Technology will fully support the Sukkur-based engineer. “The ministry and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) will study the feasibility of the project as soon as possible” he added.
Earlier, he was briefed by the engineer about the project and took the matter to the federal cabinet.
In a live TV show, broadcasted on a private TV channel, the minister along with the host and a member from opposition party drove the water-kit car.
The Minister said that they would provide complete security to Engineer Waqar Ahmed, adding that the formula will also be kept in secret.
He noted, “Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh highly valued the project. We own this project and are committed to successfully completing it”.
Earlier, Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali described the concept as a pioneering effort which could play a role in overcoming the energy crisis in the country. The new technology will be this year’s Independence Day gift to the nation, he added.
He added, “All required tests and experiments would be completed in two weeks and all stakeholders, including the PEC, National University of Science and Technology, entrepreneurs in the automobiles industry and researchers, are involved in discussions on the project”.
